Leasehold – Indian Palace Sumptuous Restaurant, Centre Madrid
This Indian Palace Restaurant is situated between the “Puerta de Alcalá”, the main entrance of the beautiful Retiro Park, the Prado Museum, and the Plaza de Cibeles.
The most visited and upper class area of Madrid.
Due to the utmost professionalism of the actual owners, this restaurant receives daily the “crème de la crème” of Madrid’s “High society” and has received many eloquent articles in magazines such as “Gourmet”, Broadsheet etc.
The Restaurant Project has been conceived as a true INDIAN ROYAL PALACE, in each and every detail.
The Project and interior design is the art work of the famous Spanish designers
Ignacio García Vinuesa and Juan Sobrino.
They have brought completely fresh eyes to the décor taking sumptuous fabrics and vibrant colours as their inspiration, none of the clichés that world travellers know about the traditional Indian Restaurants.
The overall impression is one of soft white light and glitter with silk covered cushioned sofas, a display of antique ceremonial parasols and stained glass lamps. If you really want to get in the spirit one table has a gorgeous silver plated swing instead of chairs. Nice too to see Ganesh, the elephant god, fatly imparting good luck over the proceedings.
This Palace, almost like an ancient legend, with embroidered silk saris on the walls and ceilings, the green marble floors with golden hand made mosaic, all brought over specially from India, the beige organza tablecloths and the handcrafted china and glassware, will certainly transport every and each visitor in the sumptuous world of the rich Indian culture.
Not only the interior design is a true replica of old Indian Palaces, but also the rich “haute cuisine” called “Dum Pukt”, is the traditional favourite of the “Nawabs” Kings from the north of India,
'Dum' denotes cooking over a slow fire and 'Pukht' signifies the purity and cleanliness with which one approaches the ritual of cooking.
The exclusiveness of 'Dum Pukht' cooking lies in preserving the natural aromas and flavours of the ingredients, by allowing the meats and vegetables to simmer slowly in their own juices. Resulting in delicious aromatic food that simply melts in the mouth.
The actual owners are very proud of their elaborate cooking techniques. This is the reason the kitchen is incorporated into the dining room. If you are lucky you will see the chef working from your table.
Indian cuisine has reached new heights of acclaim across the world, moving away from the old label of 'curry and rice'. Each region in India has specialities within its unique cuisine, owing to subtle preferences in taste and the differences in natural vegetation.
Their success is down to Indian chefs, carefully chosen staff and a menu that doesn't shy away from presenting a full range of flavours and strengths.
Beside the restaurant also counts on its own Snack Bar, a pleasant and carefully decorated spot with a relaxing environment where you can have a drink while waiting for your seat to be ready.
